Jasper, Ind. – Deaconess Memorial Hospital has a new general surgeon. Esther Kim, DO, has joined the active medical staff through Evansville Surgical Associates’ division of ESA-Jasper at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Kim began her educational career at Temple University in Philadelphia, where she majored in biochemistry. She went on to earn her medical degree from Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lillington, NC, and she completed a residency in general surgery through Tower Health Reading Hospital in Reading, PA.

She is a hard-working, high-quality surgeon. The community of Jasper is already benefiting from having a growing general surgery department close to home.”
Dr. Kim expressed her immediate affinity for the community. “The people really drew me in,” she said. “I’m excited to serve the community and help build the surgery department.”
A member of the Association of Women Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Kim has also authored several articles in medical research publications and has extensive medical research experience. In this regard, she is particularly excited to connect with Deaconess Memorial residents and help train the next generation of surgeons.
Dr. Kim also maintains professional membership in the Keystone Chapter of the American College of Surgeons and the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma. In her role at Deaconess Memorial, she will provide general surgery services.
